'Severe Thunderstorm Observation and Regional Modelling (STORM)'
Project by The Department of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)
to identify and study the nature of seasonal thunderstorms that hit northeast India during the months of April and May.
to track the thunderstorms which cause heavy damage to the east and northeast India.
Apart from thunderstorms, hails, dust-storms, surface wind squalls, downbursts and tornadoes have also been known to spring up in the region causing heavy damage to life and property.
